A transitional phase
Being a young adult today means very different things than it did for people in the past. In fact, the term has come into use relatively recently, in line with the societal changes that have created the need for a new age category. When adulthood no longer starts at a given point but is gradually phased in, completely different opportunities for freedom arise, which are both desirable and pleasant, but also anxiety-provoking and confusing. Questions about who you become when you are allowed to define yourself, what to study and work on when you can choose between so many things, or who you feel good about being with, create enormous freedom, but also the anxiety that naturally follows this freedom. Which place is mine? Where is the world going? What should I choose and what should I choose not to? Being a young adult in modern times brings with it a host of important and difficult questions that sometimes become overwhelming to face. Concepts such as adulting are spreading and pointing to modern difficulties with growing up.

Psychotherapy with a licensed psychologist is not necessary to deal with the issues of young adulthood. Psychological counseling is a way to break free from what is not working at the moment and get help to create the conditions necessary to live the life you want.
